About Tested Sleep
Tested Sleep is run by John Lau. Reviews are built from documented product information, a structured analysis of public user feedback, and human editorial verification. AI assists with research and drafting; John Lau reviews the evidence and approves what is published.
Why this site exists
Every year there is another "best sleep app" list written by someone who never opened the app. That is not useful. What is useful is knowing whether an app logged your 3 a.m. wake-up, whether the smart alarm is helpful, and what you will really be asked to pay after the free trial.
How reviews are produced
- Documented research: we assess official product materials and a structured analysis of public user feedback. Hands-on and 14-night testing, when conducted, are labeled separately with device and date details.
- Evidence levels: every review is labeled as a Documented Review, a Hands-on Review, or a 14-Night Tested Review.
- Labeled evidence: hands-on and 14-night testing are shown only when actually completed.
The full protocol is on the Methodology page.
What this site is not
Tested Sleep is not a medical resource. John Lau is not a doctor, and nothing on this site diagnoses, treats, or cures any medical condition, including insomnia or other sleep disorders. If you have ongoing sleep problems, please talk to a qualified healthcare professional.
Honesty policy
AI assists with research organization and drafting; John Lau reviews the evidence and approves published conclusions. Nothing is described as hands-on or 14-night tested unless that testing was actually completed. A Documented Review is clearly labeled as documented research, not personal testing. This site may earn money through affiliate links after real reviews are complete. See the Affiliate Disclosure for details.
